We often incorrectly assume that students entering into an undergraduate setting have a firm understanding of plagiarism.
In this session, we will illustrate ways to incorporate a more in-depth discussion of plagiarism at the beginning of an undergraduate course, and look at how this can be expanded upon for incoming freshman to incorporate exercises where students write, paraphrase, and peer edit their first college research paper.

Jennifer Schroeder is Assistant Professor of Biology at Millikin University and currently serves as the Vice Chair for the Council on Student and Academic Standards. In addition to teaching courses for majors and non-majors--that span from entry-level freshman through graduate students--she also does research with emphases on breast cancer and pesticides.
